Fine Arts

The arts at St. John’s Academy extend well beyond the dedicated studio and rehearsal space. Student work is celebrated throughout our colourful campus, and our co-curricular program and art classes invite every student to find their creative footing. We believe that every student has something original to express, and we take pride in showcasing and celebrating their effort.

Visual Arts

Our visual arts program, which covers painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture, and more, gives students the time, materials, and mentorship to develop a genuine artistic practice. Students learn to observe closely, experiment freely, and communicate ideas through form and image. Work moves from the foundational to the ambitious as students progress through the school, with senior students developing personal bodies of work that reflect their own artistic voice and vision.

Design and Digital Arts

In a world shaped increasingly by design, SJASL students learn to think like designers: to solve problems visually, communicate ideas with intention, and use digital tools with both skill and creativity. Our design program introduces students to the principles of visual communication and the digital platforms that bring them to life, preparing them for a future in which creative and technical literacy are equally valuable.

Music and Wind Ensemble

Music at St. John’s Academy is deeply imbued in our programs and offerings. Students have the opportunity to develop as musicians through our band program, the Wind Ensemble, in an experience that teaches listening, collaboration, and the discipline of shared performance. Starting in their earliest years at St. John’s, our musicians grow in confidence, skill, and love of the craft and the sound of it carries across the whole school.
